Marquee Mark’s 2012 Halftime Report

I guess I slept through halftime this year, but here are my favorite songs that came out this year so far. (Who knew my list would be topped by the 20-years-later comeback single from a band that no one Stateside outside of John Peel Show fanatics had ever heard of – or that the guy from Erasure and the guy from Depeche Mode would even put a dent in my chart? Ahhhh, pop music.)

Meet Touchy!

a.k.a. Li'l Touchy, The Poddish PodPal

Sorry everyone, I'm a li'l touchy today!

Meet Poddish’s newest PodPal, our new mascot, Li’l Touchy! (Thanks to AlyssaErin at Fiverr.com for the awesome artwork. You should hire her!)

Selling Out All Over Again

I forgot that we had a Poddish shop until Cafe Press said that they were going to shut it down because of inactivity. Well, it’s back… and now you can dress like PodPals did in 2004.

The "Hoodie Guthrie"

This Is Our Music. This Is Our Youth. This Is My Jam.

More Poddishness to come, but in the meantime, you can amuse yourself with this new dealio called This Is My Jam. Here’s my current jam of the day.

Rachel Mansfield’s Top Adds of 2011

Another Poddish rookie joins the fray. Because her choices are so groovy, we’ll overlook the fact that she’s cheating and leaving the play counts off. She blames Spotify, but  maybe she’s just trying to cover up how often she listens to Ninjaman.

Rachel sez: “Three(ish) words: Razor N Guido. Seems like lately I’m either floating away in a dreamy 60s-tinged pop haze or catering to my inner club kid. (I guess that’s the bio?)”

David Koe’s Top Adds Of 2011

Another founding PodPal returns to the fold!

Dave is kicking things off with his favorite adds from 2011. He says ” I made my list based on most plays for songs added in 2011. Added, not necessarily albums that came out in 2011. I’m slow to digesting the new stuff so this is the most accurate representation for what I listened to the most last year. I must say that it is spot on, some of my favorite new stuff is represented here. Best Coast, Mariachi El Bronx, Dom, Cloud Nothings, and Harlem. Yay! I like it.”

Valbert Smart’s Top Adds of 2011

One of our founding PodPals, Valbert Smart from LitRag Records’ recording artists, The Withholders, has checked in with his list of best songs he added in 2011.

Valbert sez: “2011 was a great year for… some French pop, two Smiths covers, a few 2010 leftovers that I was too lazy to hear the first time around, at least one internet meme, the bizarre presence of 1983, and only 1 Beach Boys track, given that the Smile Box didn’t come out till November… ”

Ron Lewis’ Top 25 Most Played playlist

Our favorite Fruit Bat checks in with a list that reconciles his loves of soft rock and ambient music. But isn’t ambient really just the softest rock of all?

Ron: “Very well, you ASKED for it….a couple of these were unavoidably ‘rehearsed’ into most-played status… As for the rest, I probably could have told you w/out looking whose discography would easily dominate my top 25”

Marquee Mark’s Top 25 Most Played playlist

I, Mark Butler, do solemnly swear that these are my most listened-to songs on iTunes, although certain members of my household may have overdone it a little bit on the Eames Era thing. Looking back at my 2003 version of this list, there’s clearly been a lot of turnover – and not just from old songs reclaiming territory from the novelty of something brand new in the early days of iTunes. And what other Top 25 list is going to feature Annette Funicello?
